Sophomore students traveled to the Old Idaho Penitentiary with Ms. Swanson and Ms. Coriell as part of their place-based study of Idaho’s early history of criminal justice in English II. Students learned about conditions in early Idaho incarceration and reform system as well as the progression of correctional institutions from Idaho's early days as a territory to when the penitentiary closed in the 1970s.
