Dear Students and Families of Heartland High School,

I am so excited to introduce myself as the new Principal of Heartland High School. As I step into this role, I am eager to work with the exceptional HHS team, dedicated students, and supportive families that make up this remarkable learning community.

First, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Phil Schoensee, our former Principal. Phil made a significant impact on the school, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and a nurturing environment. His dedication and the great work he did with the HHS community will always be remembered and appreciated.  It is an honor for me to follow in his footsteps and continue the legacy of excellence at Heartland High School.

As I assume the position of Principal, I want to assure you that my commitment to the success and well-being of each student is unwavering. Heartland High School has a strong reputation for providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment, and I am fully dedicated to continuing and enhancing that tradition.

One of my immediate goals is to implement some updates to the class schedule that will better serve our students' needs. Starting from the upcoming academic year, we will be working with a class schedule that includes additional elective options (available in collaboration with MDHS).  We will follow the “quadmester” calendar with four 90-minute periods, 5 full days a week (8:00 am to 2:50 pm, lunch from 11:05 am to 11:40 am).  This schedule adjustment is designed to provide a more personalized learning experience and ensure that students have the opportunity to explore their interests while meeting their academic requirements.  I am a firm believer in the power of collaboration, and I am excited to collaborate with the outstanding McCall-Donnelly community.  Our amazing faculty and staff at HHS are tremendous resources and advocates for our HHS students. Together, we will continue to provide an environment that promotes academic growth, emotional well-being, and personal development for all students. It is my vision to create a school community where every individual feels valued, respected, and supported in their individual journey toward success.

I encourage all parents and guardians to actively engage with the school and maintain open lines of communication with our faculty and staff. We believe that a strong partnership between home and school is essential for the educational growth of our students, and we are committed to ensuring that this partnership continues to succeed.

In the coming weeks, I will be preparing for the upcoming school year and sending additional communications to students, families, and staff to get acquainted. I look forward to personally meeting each of you and learning about your goals and expectations for the future.
