Club members organize and sponsor a science and math fair each year in the high school commons. These fairs are open to all K-12 students, home-schooled students, community members, and professional scientists. Check the links on the right panel of this page for more information and ideas for projects. This year's science and math fair will be Friday evening, May 8th, from 7:00-8:30.
The science club also sponsors an FTC robotics team. The FTC program provides an extension of the First Lego League robotics program for older students. It is designed for middle school and high school-aged students, and involves bigger, more complex robots than those in the FLL program. FTC teams from McCall have competed for the past three years in the tournament at the University of Idaho on the second Saturday in February. The FTC robotics season begins in late September, when the challenge for the year is announced nationally, and continues through the first half of February. Please contact Mr. Cochrane if you would like to help--we are looking for volunteers who can help in a variety of different capacities. Practice sessions occur every school day from 3:00-5:00 at the high school. For more information on the FTC program, go to usfirst.org, and follow the FTC link at the top of the page.
