2020-2021 Bus Routes

  • Below you can find current bus routes for the McCall-Donnelly School District.

Drivers strive to be exact with times, but all times are approximate. Pick up times will never be early, but may be slightly later due to unforseen circumstances. Drop off times may be slightly earlier or later. Please have your child at the bus stop 5 minutes prior to pick up time to help expedite the process.

Presently, the district has two options when faced with factors which necessitate a school or district closure.   Examples of factors include, but are not limited to:  inclement weather, loss of power, or other safety concerns.  The two options include cancelling school entirely or maintaining the existing schedule.

After extensive consideration, and conversations with principals, the Valley County Roads Department, the City of McCall Roads Department and Harlow’s transportation, administration recommends the board approve a third, delayed start option.

The delayed start option would adjust transportation and school start times by 2 hours.

According to IDAPA rule, “A school day for grades one through twelve (1-12) may be counted as a “day in session” when the school is open and students are under the guidance and direction of teachers in the teaching process for not less than four (4) hours of instruction per day.  Lunch periods, breaks, passing time and recess will not be included in the four (4) hours.  For kindergarten, each session will be at least two and one-half (2 ½) hours per day.”

Given this, those students attending in a delayed start scenario in grades 1 through 12 would be considered having attended a full-day of instruction.  There would be an impact to morning kindergarten attendance, however it is anticipated to be minor.

The benefits of a delayed start include, but are not limited to:

    • Increased visibility of road conditions.
    • Increased opportunity for families to clear snow from their property.
    • A reduction of vehicles on the road between 7:00 and 9:00.
    • Four hours of instruction, opposed to a full day cancellation.
