Reading, Spelling and Multiplication Fact Information
Students have been given a recorder sheet that requires parent signature.
Students are encouraged to read 20 minutes every night five days a week and recorder their work on a yellow log sheet and return to the teacher. Students are encouraged to study spelling words and mulitipication10 minutes each, every night 5 days a week. Parents need to initial the yellow recorder sheet as well as write in the time for each academic work. Students that practice for 400 minutes for both multipication and spelling in a two week period will be given the opportunity to participate in a team level celebration. Celebration may include popcorn, extra recess on Fridays, creative book making, game time, p.j. party, hot chocolate celebration, etc. So help your student out by making sure they read 20 minutes every night and practice their multipication and spelling words 10 minutes each night. The iPad has lots of fractions apps, division, multiplication apps for helping to practice these concepts.
Students are encouraged to read 20 minutes every night five days a week.
Reading party dates will be determined by the reading team. Students need a total of 400 reading minutes to participate in the reading parties.
iPad Updates and Coming Surveys
The students will be coming home with their iPads to see if the American Revolution app works at home. If your child can get a wifi connection then they can learn from the American Revolution timeline about history and its important datas and happenings.
The District has given my class and me the opportunity to work with iPads this year. I am looking to understand how the iPads can best be used. Currently the students are working on their spelling words for the week using the Spellit app. Other apps the students are using are Rover (a search engine that allows the students to see specific non-apple websites, Nearpod (this program connects all the iPads together in the classroom), and Moodle is a district server that allow the teacher to set up post and give assignment to students that will be gone from class.
Another iPad survey will be coming soon so parents make sure your child is using the iPads to study math. They have a new link through Rover and that is the illuminations a wonderful math site.
